The problem
Unfortunately, software changes are inevitable usually through advancements in technology.
Take a particular customer, who after changing its CAD/PDM software required amending or developing new working methods and processes, which could be implemented efficiently and effectively into the business.
As existing practices and techniques were in place, expertise was required on procedures and tools to facilitate new methods deployment, creation and contribution to new and updated methods documents, and support (with training) in the understanding of the new processes.
Our solution
Xype were able to provide a team of specialists with the relevant CAD and PDM skills. Their task was to validate the current process and methods and either adapt or develop new methods helping the smooth transition and understanding of the toolsets.
This was successfully achieved where each specialist was involved in key stages of the definition and development process, providing solutions acceptable to the business.
Typical deliverables for these activities have been:
- Providing expertise from concept to deployment of each toolset, specifically Process and Methods / Solution Design and Development / Process and Method Integration and Deployment.
- Producing or assisting in the writing of method or process documents.
- Establish test scripts to confirm methods.
- Promote, regulate and enforce the new methods and processes to the end users to enable a successful deployment.
- Provide communication and education about the new methods and processes.
- Provide method guidelines and workarounds for gaps or errors.
- Support the department responsible with methods training i.e. Train the trainer sessions, validation of training material, refresher workshops.
- Continued support, establishing regular communication sessions incorporating Functionality Demonstrations, Training Workshops and User Forums
